wiimote + python + linux = fun!!!
This is my first entry in english (hopefully not the last one)
When I bought the wiimote, a lot of folks where complaining about me not giving it a good use (because of my lack of the wii console). I told everybody that my purchase was enterely for hacking purposes, and they just laughed at my face… “what in the world are you going to do with that silly remote control???”, “Pfff, 600 pesos for THAT?!?! you must be nuts”… you know the story…
My “wii development skills” where delayed, because i didn’t have a bluetooth adapter. I browsed everywhere for it, and finally, I bought it yesterday at my local steren shop
My final goal, is to make a driver for the wiimote that “Just Works”. So far, I only got button recognition (heck, I know the accelerometer is not working yet, but it’s a start!!!), and some fancy-wancy led dancing show
I know for good, that this is a hellish amount of work, but that’s the reason I’m doin’ it, I want to learn. Apparently, there is something called uinput which was introduced in the 2.6 kernel development series that makes the driver creation a no-brainer (yeah, right…). The code below is an ugly hack, it’s not optimized or anything, but apparently works fine.
EDIT
When i looked at the source code in planeta linux, i noticed it takes a huge amount of space, so, instead of that, here’s the link and youtube video
